Stunning Antique Paint Decorated Italian Venetian Secretary so curvy and romantic from every angle! This is a Smaller Mademoiselle or Monsieur’s Writing Desk so perfect for smaller areas. It measures 74.5 inches at the tallest area and 33 inches at the widest area and 17.5 inches at the deepest area at the front center of the bombay drawers. This fabulous piece of furniture is painted in a muted antique green color with painted inserts of creamy gold backgrounds with muted rich pink tone roses, tiny blue flowers, and green foliage. Each painted area is ornately carved and outlined with gilding. There are 3 drawers under the flip down writing desk as well as a small drawer inside. All of the gold color hardware appears to be original as does the painting. The top is elegantly curved with a clear glass in the door front which opens to 2 wood shelves and the lower area which serves as a shelf also. The interior is painted a creamy beige. There is a lovely carved circular gilded medallion in the middle of the top. There is a key to lock the top section and a key to unlock the lower section.
The top section is securely screwed via brass hardware at the back but can be taken off for transport and thus we have 2 pieces.
This darling secretary will add a Romantic Ambience to any room.
A few more details concerning this piece are:
29″ from the floor to the fold down writing desk.
The writing desk area measures 17.5″ by 11 5/8″
And has 6 sides. The top piece by itself measures 36.5″ tall by 20.5″ wide. These dimensions are all taken at the widest areas due to such curvaceous lines!!
This is an old piece and it has small areas showing age lines. I call this wonderful aged patina. The top lock might have had a small cover over it because I see 2 tiny holes where it could have been covered. The painting is all drop dead gorgeous.
If you would like a shipping quote(you cannot pick the item up), please send me your city and zip and I would be happy to obtain one for you.
Be sure to check out the Italian pink upholstered settee that I have listed because the green hues of the frame are that same fabulous Italian tone!
